Nicki Minaj has inspired a lot of controversy with the release of the cover art for her latest single, which has the rapper posing in a G-string with her butt as the centerpiece. SLIGHTLY NSFW.
Many have had valid criticisms of Nicki for contributing to the hypersexualization of black women's bodies and perpetuating the continued devaluation of black womanhood. Nicki has responded on Instagram by pointing to the fact that black women's bodies are demonized while white women do not receive the same treatment. See her response below!
Nicki also has a very valid point. She should have the right to express her sexuality as she sees fit without being demonized because she is a black woman, but she may also be contributing to the hypersexualization of black women's bodies. What do you think?
